This is one of the finest buildings of Kavala. It was built in the first decade of the 20th century by the large Turkish landowner Hatzi Sikir Aga. It is a representative example of Ottoman architecture with influences from German neoclassicism. Unfluted pilasters with curved surfaces, Orientalising decorative column capitals, straight lines in combination with the curved arches of propylon gate, a drum with abstract palmettes, etc. all give the sense of a successful marrying of neoclassical and Ottoman architecture.
