By plane

From Athens, there are daily flights to “Megas Alexandros” Airport in Chrysoupoli, just over 30 km from Kavala. In the summer, this airport serves charter flights to and from many European cities.

By bus

There are regular connections with KTEL buses to and from Thessaloniki and Athens as well as to other nearby towns. The completion of the Via Egnatia has reduced the distances while the road network throughout the whole Regional Unit is generally good.

By car

Kavala has an excellent road network, with modern roads connecting itto all the large towns in the region and the whole of Greece. Whether via the A2 motorway on the Via Egnatia or the old National Road, travel by car is comfortable and pleasant.

The provincial road network for all the villages in the Regional Unit is in a very good condition, with asphalt-surfaced roads running in all directions.

Kavala is 153 km from Thessaloniki by car and 653 km from Athens.

By train

You will arrive by train in Thessaloniki, Drama or Xanthi and can continue from there by car for Kavala. For timetables, fares, journey times and further information call 14511 or visit the TRAINOSE website at www.trainose.gr.

By boat

There are daily connections with the island of Thassos, from the port of Prinos on Thassos, with a final destination of “Apostolos Pavlos”, the passenger port of Kavala, as well as from the port of Limenas on Thassos with the port of Keramoti. Kavala is also connected by boat with Piraeus, Lavrio,Leros, Patmos, Syros, Mykonos, Icaria, Fournoi, Samos, Chios, Mytilene, Agios Evstratios and Lemnos.
