Holy Monastery of Saint Panteleimon

This women’s monastery was founded in 1978 and operates according to the Typikon (regulations) of Mount Athos. It celebrates on 27 July.
The hill upon which the monastery stands was of old called Aetoplagia (Eagle Slope), obviously because eagles nested here. According to tradition, the saint appeared to a child in its sleep and asked him to tell his parents to build a church on Aetoplagia.
