Lydia in Kavala is a village in an area that is filled with archaeological and religious monuments. This is where we today find the modern baptistery of St Lydia (1974), designed according to the architectural prototype of the Octagon, while on the adjacent riverbank of the Zygaktis there is an outdoor baptistery, similar to those preserved in the Early Christian basilicas of Philippi in the shape of a cross, within the flowing waters of the river.

Distance from Kavala: 19 km

If you find yourselves in the baptistery of Lydia, you might be witness to the religious ritual of the baptising of adults on the feast of St Lydia, 20 May!
