Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour

A women’s monastery, located in the mountainous region of the River Nestos. The monastery houses the miracle-working icon of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, after which it was named. The icon had been brought over by refugees from Neohori, Panormos in Asia Minor in 1922. The monastery celebrates its feast day on 6 August.
