Running and mountain biking races or a combination of the two for all those athletes who want to test their endurance, starting with the bicycle race and continuing with the run. There are also children’s running races and MTB Junior competitions. All within a landscape that alternates between pine forests and springs, plane trees and chestnut trees.
The Forest Routes are organised by the Zygos Kavalas natural and cultural association in collaboration with the “Ypsilantis” Pontian Association of Zygos, the Kyklotron cycling club of Kavala and the parents’ and guardians’ associations of the Zygos primary school, with the participation of local bodies.
Two days of sporting competitions and other parallel events, held in the month of April with the goal of promoting the region, especially the beautiful pine forest of Zygos, and the idea of sports.
Once the races have started, there is the option for any interested spectators to go up to the mountain to watch and applaud the efforts of the athletes from up close.
